LEANNE POLE

PIZZA CAPERS OWNER ORMEAU

"We're a close-knit family of six and we run the store together. We all jump in and get our hands dirty. My eldest son has autism and I'm passionate about supporting the local special school. We run a work experience program where the students come into the store and learn valuable work and life skills. It's such a rewarding experience for everyone involved."

How long have you owned your store?

We’ve owned it for close to two years now.

What did you do before you opened your store?

I was a bookkeeper for an accounting firm… very different to making pizzas!

Why did you decide to open a Pizza Capers store?

I knew the previous owners and when they were selling I thought it would be a great opportunity to make the career change I’d been looking for. Plus, I love pizza and so do my kids. I might be biased, but I genuinely think our pizza is the best you can get!

How is your family involved with your store?

We have four kids – 10, 13, 16 and 18 – and they’re all involved in the store. We’re a close-knit family and run the store together as a family business. We all jump in and get our hands dirty.

Why should your local community support you?

We’re a local family. We’ve been part of the community for almost 15 years. Our kids attend the local school, we’re part of local committees and we support local events. I’m a big believer in locals supporting locals.

What are you passionate about?

My eldest son has autism and attends the local special school. I’m passionate about helping the kids who attend this school and for the last 18 months or so, have been running a work experience program where the students can come into the store and learn valuable work and life skills. This year alone we’ve had three students and it’s been an absolutely rewarding experience for everyone involved.
